Henrietta Ludgate’s Autumn Winter 2011 Lookbook Shoot
I worked with photographer Pete Repka last week, for Henrietta’s lookbook. I had three lights to work with and they wanted catwalk style lighting. Previous to the shoot, we had discussed adding some colour to the lighting and add some smoke to build behind the model. The designer wanted some kind of blue/sci fi style lighting.
We took this theme and then added a bit of orange to warm the image up slightly, so it wasn’t too cold. I went for a simple set up, using the colours to add drama to the background and then use the smoke to allow those colours to spread over the image and wrap around the model. The octa was then used to softly light the model.
This lighting set up was very open, so it allowed the model to move. It was important for the designer that the model would walk down the platform, as if it was a catwalk, so this set up allowed for this and made sure the model was always lit correctly.
It was great working with Pete, Henrie and model Crystal. I spent most of the time wanting all of Henrietta’s clothes, she’s a great and very lovely designer.
